I forgot to blog about Alfred's new car! He and Mike drove a total of 6 hours round trip to go pick it up a couple of weekends ago when Mike was here. It's a Pontiac Vibe, which I have to be sure to mention is basically a Toyota Matrix, because he likes Toyota better. He bought it right after the announcement that Pontiac was going out of business, and he got a really good deal. The garage is so, so far away, so instead of taking a picture of his actual car, here's one google showed me that's basically the same thing:

It's nice. I haven't gotten to ride in it much yet, but the one trip I took in it was nice. It's a lot bigger, so he can carry lots of stuff with him, which is a big change from his old car. Overall, he's happy with it, which is good. It doesn't have cruise control, but you can't have it all.

What has he done this time?

Apparently he looked down to read some directions while driving and looked up about 2 seconds before hitting the car in front of him. Oh, Alfred.

Luckily he's completely fine. Also good is the fact that his engine is in the middle of the car, behind the seats. So the car still runs, although it's probably not going to last too long because there are other vital car parts in the front. This means Alfred gets to start doing car research again. The other car was fine too, as was the other driver. The crappiest part is that we had just paid off his car a few months ago. So really, the timing was about right, I guess.

Oh, and who did he hit? Turns out it was a guy in his company car, so they had to call the police and everything. And what does this guy do for a living? He's the driving safety instructor for his company. Ah, irony.

Yesterday I had a bunch of pictures and no words, today it's the opposite. I had kind of a stressful day at work, a couple of people were sort of difficult to work with and there was an issue with some lost money. This morning I dropped a bottle in the bathroom and it broke and made a huge mess, there's a huge mess in the kitchen that I don't want to deal with, and I was just sort of grumpy overall. Then we had a great dinner, we cleaned off some crud that was on my car, Alfred took the stupid sunroof visor off of my car, and I'm now having a kahlua and cream and getting ready to knit. So I'm better now. But not feeling inspired to blog. So here's a video. Oh yeah, and Mike and Alfred were really good at shooting skeet this weekend.

I totally ran out of time to blog last night. I didn't get home from work until after 7, then I had to make dinner, empty the dishwasher, clean up the kitchen, wash a bunch of dishes, fold laundry, iron, and cut my nails. No time for blogging! See?

I made the same pumpkin sausage soup we made last weekend, but it was way better this time. We had another pretty awesome dinner tonight, I made Puerto Rican style chicken and beans. Then I decided to sit on my ass and watch SNL's election special from last night instead of cleaning the house, so luckily for everyone I can also blog.

We spent Halloween night at Ilya and Mercedes' house handing out candy to kids. There weren't a ton of kids, but there were enough to entertain me. I also got dressed up a bit. Apparently I looked kind of creepy.

Alfred dressed up as a toucan. It's hard to see in this picture, but at least it's a good shot of his beard. It's impressive, no? Mercedes was a lion and Ilya was an elephant.

As I was taking off my makeup, I realized that the blue around my eyes made it look like I had a black eye, and the red around my mouth looked like blood, so we had to take a picture of us simulating domestic abuse.

Saturday we took the rhino out to the land Max owns where we're going to go this weekend with Mike to shoot things. We had to scope things out and get the lay of the land. Then coming home that evening I got pulled over for having a headlight out. Damn pigs. Luckily he let me off with only a warning. This is the second time I've had a headlight out in my life, and both times I got pulled over. This time the light was out for only 1 day when I got pulled over. I bought a new one yesterday and put it in myself, and it actually worked, so I was pretty proud of myself. Max and Alfred also fixed a few other things on my car this weekend, it's nice to have working windshield wiper solution for a change.

Ok, back to tv. I'm excited about the election, but I don't think we'll actually find out who won tonight. Maybe tomorrow, if we're lucky. I hope it doesn't run on for days like the last couple. Exciting stuff!

i forgot

Yeah, I forgot to blog last night. I had dinner, watched tv, played some zelda, and was so tired by 10 that I just went to bed. I guess all my mechanical work wore me out! Ok, it wasn't all that mechanical, but I did do a little work on my car. (If I had time, I would totally find a picture of some greasy looking mechanic and photoshop my face on it.) I put on my Cornell license plate frame, refilled my windshield wiper solution, and replaced my wiper blades. All by myself! I was proud of myself. Then when I tested out the wipers, the cleaning solution still didn't spray out. So maybe there's a leak, or the pump is broken or something. I figure I'll try it again this morning and see what happens. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't too bad, but man, I was so disappointed it didn't just work for me.

Ok, time to go get ready for work. I'm starving!

I'm legal

Let me preface this post with a warning: I bought a bottle of coffee liquor today and have had 3 glasses of it mixed with fat free half and half. Each successive glass had less and less of the half and half. It was fantastically delicious. Thus, you get to enjoy the elusive "tipsy post."

I bought the liquor for the tiramisu I'm making tomorrow for Alfred's birthday (we're celebrating this weekend with his family). Tonight I made the ladyfingers. Cause I'm hard core like that. At one point I had dueling mixers going. I was using the hand mixer with the egg whites, and the stand mixer with the yolks. It was kind of awesome. Ok, I'm lying. Dueling mixers! It was totally awesome!

So we bought me a car back at the beginning of August. I've been driving it ever since. And I just went today and got it registered. Boo yah! I've been living on the edge, man. I even had to lie about when we bought it. I'm so bad ass. But now I officially own my own car, all by myself. Neato.

Ok, I've been working on this for like 45 minutes and obviously haven't gotten very far. I keep getting distracted by Wipeout, it's funny if you've never seen it. And this sounds rather disjointed, but you know, I think this is the best I can do right now. Sorry, dudes.

look what I got!

We drove up to Georgia last night and bought me a car!

Isn't she pretty? It's a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, I got my four doors and automatic transmission, and even got a sunroof and mp3 player! It's a champagne color, which makes me want to name it Andre. It drives really nicely, it's a smaller car but feels nice and big from the inside, it's got a nice size backseat (for carseats, maybe....) and overall I'm just really happy with it. So, yay!

odds and ends

First of all, there are no pictures in this post. Alfred said that was ok.

Luckily my parents and sister are camping this weekend, otherwise I'm sure I would have gotten a text message or 2 from my mom, wondering where my posts were. Between not being able to use the internet at work and house sitting (which means I have a longer drive, unfortunately, but only by about 10 minutes) I just haven't had time. But I probably have a few minutes before I crash, so here are a few little things from the last couple of days.

• I discovered that my last day last year was July 27. My first day this year was July 28. I thought that was kind of funny.
• I got drug tested on Monday! Good thing I've been laying off the crack pipe lately. It was a good way to kill a couple of hours, because the clinic was closed for an extra hour for lunch.
  
• Lindsay and Jeff moved this morning. It's not like we hung out all that often, but we did talk on the phone or email every now and then. I feel like them moving a few hours away is so far away and I'll never see them again. But once I get my free pass to attractions we can always plan a weekend out that way!
• Oh yeah, I'm definitely getting my free attraction pass again. Ilya is pumped.
  
• Tomorrow after work we're going to look at a car to buy. It's a Hyundai Elantra. Hopefully it looks and runs as good as the pictures look (and the seller says it does) cause I want a car! And it's like a 2 hour drive, so it would suck to do all that driving and come back without a car. But we'll see, if we don't like it there's always another car out there.
• I get to listen to the radio all day now. I listened to a top 40 station on Monday. Rihanna has a lot of goddamn songs. I've been listening to classic rock since then. Much better.
• Mike just got his birthday gift today. It was shipped June 23 and was priority mail. Stupid Hawaiian post office.

I can't really think of anything else. I feel like all day I think of little things and I'm like oh I should blog about that, but then when I actually sit here and type I forget it all. Oh well. Have a good Friday!
