action shot

We hit up a couple of bars last night, nothing too outrageous, but we got enough attention for our costumes to make Mike happy. We were rock, paper, scissors, and Gara, obviously. In case you don't know how Gara fits into the game, scissors cut her, rock bashes her, and she tears up paper. We realized last night that to really make the game work you need an odd number of items. Otherwise it isn't fair.

Today we have some things to make in the smoker, plus Gara and I just bought some hair spray paint. Also, it's Growler Day! So we're each drinking a growler (gallon) of beer. It's pretty cool that Growler Day and Halloween fall on the same day this year. Kevin and Ilya are both out of town (Ilya went to the big rally in DC that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert had yesterday, we watched for him on TV, didn't see him but did see a friend from college, which was pretty awesome) so Gara's been hanging out with us, and Mercedes will hopefully be able to stop by later. She wasn't feeling well the other day but she was going to try to come over later. Shaping up to be a fun day!

yowza

I totally ran out of time to blog last night. I didn't get home from work until after 7, then I had to make dinner, empty the dishwasher, clean up the kitchen, wash a bunch of dishes, fold laundry, iron, and cut my nails. No time for blogging! See?

I made the same pumpkin sausage soup we made last weekend, but it was way better this time. We had another pretty awesome dinner tonight, I made Puerto Rican style chicken and beans. Then I decided to sit on my ass and watch SNL's election special from last night instead of cleaning the house, so luckily for everyone I can also blog.

We spent Halloween night at Ilya and Mercedes' house handing out candy to kids. There weren't a ton of kids, but there were enough to entertain me. I also got dressed up a bit. Apparently I looked kind of creepy.

Alfred dressed up as a toucan. It's hard to see in this picture, but at least it's a good shot of his beard. It's impressive, no? Mercedes was a lion and Ilya was an elephant.

As I was taking off my makeup, I realized that the blue around my eyes made it look like I had a black eye, and the red around my mouth looked like blood, so we had to take a picture of us simulating domestic abuse.

Saturday we took the rhino out to the land Max owns where we're going to go this weekend with Mike to shoot things. We had to scope things out and get the lay of the land. Then coming home that evening I got pulled over for having a headlight out. Damn pigs. Luckily he let me off with only a warning. This is the second time I've had a headlight out in my life, and both times I got pulled over. This time the light was out for only 1 day when I got pulled over. I bought a new one yesterday and put it in myself, and it actually worked, so I was pretty proud of myself. Max and Alfred also fixed a few other things on my car this weekend, it's nice to have working windshield wiper solution for a change.

Ok, back to tv. I'm excited about the election, but I don't think we'll actually find out who won tonight. Maybe tomorrow, if we're lucky. I hope it doesn't run on for days like the last couple. Exciting stuff!

I'm full of oj

Alfred and I have both had colds for the last couple of days. It sucks. Hopefully we feel better tomorrow, because we're planning to go over to Ilya and Mercedes' house and have a little Halloween party. I bought a $3 clown wig at Walmart and everything. I always want to hand out candy to kids, but we never get any trick or treaters at our house, I guess cause we're so far back from the street. Or because our neighborhood is full of a bunch of jerks. Although we never got trick or treaters at the apartment either, and we were right on the street there. We even bought candy when we lived there, and then got stuck eating it all ourselves. Not that that was so bad, of course. But that probably contributed to the whole needing to lose weight thing.

I've also been trying to convince Alfred that Halloween is a great reason to have kids. We're too old to get dressed up and go trick or treating ourselves, so clearly we need a child to do it with. So far, no luck. Too bad, cause then we could have our own little cat and Darth Vader.

When I was in high school I spent a semester interning at an emergency room. It was a quiet hospital and was kind of boring, though. I was there the night of the hospital Halloween party and got to help out with it instead of staying in the ER. That night I decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life celebrating Halloween with little kids. It was so much fun. Of course, that hasn't exactly panned out, but it did point me in the direction of working with children. Neat, huh?
