alone again

Alfred came home last night! We blew through some important tv, had a tasty dinner, and I enjoyed having someone other than myself to talk to. In other words, I was far too busy to blog. But tonight he's at his parents' house again, he had to go to work after his class so he really didn't feel like making the drive home. So, here I am, watching a show about multiple births (they totally just showed a baby come out, there was a warning at the beginning about full frontal nudity) and eating a quesadilla for dinner. Good stuff.

(There's not going to be a picture here. Alfred's computer isn't on and I'm far too comfortable to go upstairs and turn it on, and I don't have any pictures on this computer. Sorry!)

I'm also playing Suzy Homemaker. I sewed up a tear in one of my work costumes, and now I'm going to work on knitting a hair covering thing to wear to work. It's called a snood. Ooh, here's a picture after all!

Except mine won't be orange. We'll see how it turns out. I was hoping to get it finished tonight, but I've been slacking off so far so I don't know if that will happen.

So tomorrow's high is only 49 degrees. It's supposed to go down into the 20's both tonight and tomorrow night. I think that qualifies as cold. Of course, not nearly as cold as it is in NY or MN. We were actually hoping to go to MN this weekend (Mike's there now) but it didn't work out, since Alfred has his class and I have to work all freaking day on Sunday (I have to be there at 8am!) But knowing that it's so damn cold up there somehow makes me not quite as sad to not be going. Still a little sad, though.

belated anniversary

Tony and Cathy's anniversary was last week, the 13th, and I realized that I forgot to blog about it. Looking at the pictures made me want to post some, although I decided to stick with normal ones since we're so young looking, instead of going for the funny ones. We took a road trip out to MN for the wedding, we were so young.

Aw, aren't they cute. I guess that's why they made such cute kids. I don't really remember the cake, but I bet it was good.

Until our own wedding, this was the only picture we had of us together in nice clothes and posing nicely. We used this picture for our wedding announcement in the paper, Robyn gave away frames with this picture in it for rehearsal dinner favors... I feel like we used it more, but I can't remember.

The best part of of this one is Katie. She was only 12. I was 20. One of Tony's relatives on his mom's side thought Katie was me. It was a little embarrassing.

Ok, I know I said no funny pictures, but how could I resist this one?

that guy I married

This is the kind of picture that belonged with my post from this morning:

Also, blogger is being stupid right now. I cannot be held responsible for any screwed up spacing or anything else that happens.

Alfred commented last night that it's like we're doing the long distance thing again. It's kind of true, we haven't seen each other since Tuesday, although we're only an hour apart instead of numerous states or time zones. We've talked on the phone a few times and emailed and texted, but not all that much, really. I have to say, it's much easier not seeing him for a few days now than when we were actually dating long distance. Now I can miss him, but appreciate having the whole bed to myself. (Just kidding, honey. I miss you like crazy and love when you take up 7/8 of the bed. Really, I don't need much space. I'm short.) It's kind of crazy to think that we've been together for 7 years now. Also, we've officially hit the point where we've been married for half the time we've been together. From here on out we'll have been married longer than we were dating. It's insanity. I guess.

In other extremely exciting news, my parents got a freaking Wii! I've only played with it once, when we went to Minnesota last spring. It was really fun, and there were only a couple games. It'll be awesome to try out new ones. I can't wait for Thanksgiving!

MN continued

I got Katie's pictures last night, so here are some more from our trip! We went to a hibachi place for Lisa's birthday, it was kind of funny because the guy kept dropping stuff and messing up. He threw one of the eggs too high, it hit the ceiling and broke and fell into the shrimp, then he kept breaking the other ones when he tossed them on his spatula. He was rather entertaining. Look how snazzy we all are.

I was taking a picture of Ella playing with the Wii and Tony and Mason just happened to be in the bottom of the picture. I think it's so cute.

Drunky McDrunkersons.

Some more dress up.

Ella helped me make a cake one night. She kept sticking her fingers into the eggs as we beat them to see what it felt like. Then I turned around to get the pan, I turn back and the girl's coated in chocolate - she just dunked her hand in the batter and started licking it off. It got all over her bathrobe, her face, in her hair, everywhere. It was pretty damn funny. (Please note the bottle of gin behind her. She asked when we were putting that in the cake.)

back to real life

Our trip to Minnesota was awesome. We had lots of fun. We drank a lot, played lots of Uno and Wii, hung out. Thursday night we knocked back an impressive 7 bottles of wine. This isn't the best picture, but it's probably the funniest. Although Cathy has a sequence of 4 or 5 pictures of Tony that are hysterical.

The kids were super cute, of course. We watched some Star Wars, played some beads, several dozen rounds of hide and seek. A couple of times they hid so well we actually didn't find them, but I'm going to assume the 7 bottles of wine had something to do with that.

Also, lots and lots of Wii. Tony and Cathy don't have one (yet), their friend Lisa had just gotten one for her birthday and brought it over for us to play with. We all had sore arms and backs from all the boxing, but hey, at least we didn't just sit on our asses the whole weekend! Me boxing Tony (and losing, if I recall correctly; golf was my game):

I was running!

I went jogging last night after work. 3 miles, it sucked. Actually the first half sucked, the second half was fine, and I felt great when I was done. I wasn't even sore this morning. Considering I haven't jogged in about a month, I thought I did pretty good. Also, I got heckled! A guy a few houses down from us started running next to me, telling me to pick up the pace. I told him I was fine, thanks, and he actually said "sorry, I'm just messing with you," and left me alone. Then I got honked at. Awesome. I was going to post a picture of Forrest Gump running and photoshop my head onto his body, but I don't have any good pictures of my head on this computer. Sorry. I know you're disappointed.

We leave for MN tomorrow! I'm super excited. I hope my liver is prepared for all the drinking we're going to be doing. A couple pictures of last year: the first one is of the boys doing a power hour. For some reason I was super nice and volunteered to be DD. Cathy missed this because she was home sick, I believe. The second picture is Mike and Tony diving in an aquarium, they got to go for free because they're military, so Alfred and I watched. It was fun watching, all the kids who were around got all excited to see the divers in the tank. They found a bunch of shark teeth. Oh yeah, they were in a tank with sharks. We'll miss Mike this year (stupid army), but Katie's coming along, which is nice - built in DD!

Our flight is at 12:30 tomorrow, we get back really late Monday night, and then my parents arrive for a week long visit on Friday. Action packed excitement up in these parts. So I'm not sure how much I'll be posting over the next several days, at least until next Tuesday, but I'll have my laptop with me. Try not to miss me too much! :)

we're going to MN!

The big news of the day is: we bought tickets to go to Minnesota! Yay! It's about damn time! Last year we went up over Memorial Day weekend to visit when Mike was on leave and had a great time. We drank a lot. Played lots of Uno. So a couple months ago I emailed my siblings trying to figure out a weekend this spring that would work for all of us. Between Mike and Tony both having military things all the time, and us having such a lively social life (I think we had 2 whole weekends we were busy, we're in pretty high demand) it was really, really hard to pin down a weekend. I think there were 3 between February and May that worked. Eventually I had to admit defeat. So Alfred and Katie and I are flying up to visit in a couple weeks, and Mike is going another weekend. 3 out of 4 is better than nothing, I guess. And, bonus - since Katie will be there, we have a built in DD! Score! Plus, we're still planning on going to visit Mike in Hawaii this summer, so I guess that will have to do. This picture is from my last trip to Hawaii. Maybe this time we'll see more than the base, the hospital, and the ABC stores within a 2 block radius of our hotel. :)
